It is with deep sadness we have to announce that our leader Juan Brujo has passed away today. Juan suffered a heart attack on early Monday morning, after a day off from the current Mexorcista tour in Saint Clairsville, Ohio.

The tragic news comes just months after Juan’s cousin, the group’s vocalist and sampler, Ciriaco “Pinche Peach” Quezada, passed away at 57 in July 2024.

Meanwhile, his family is devastated by the prospect of experiencing another loss from the exact cause.

Juan Brujo, the founder of Brujeria, was the longest-serving active touring member!

Juan Brujo was the frontman and founding member of the band named Brujeria. He formed the band in Los Angeles in 1989 alongside members Dino Cazares, Billy Gould, Shane Embury, Raymond Herrera, and Jello Biafra.

This unanticipated turn of events is a significant loss to the band, as the two key members have taken their last breath.

Regardless, they remain resilient despite adversity and have plans for the future.

With his metal band, Juan was widely known for their unique persona of appearing donning bandanas, serapes, and balaclavas.

He is widely recognized as the one who covered his face with a scarf with the Mexican flag. This added an intriguing part to his persona and also concealed his identity.

The 1989-formed band released their debut album, Matando Gueros, with 19 tracks under Roadrunner Records in 1993.

Their discography includes five full-length albums, with the recent and fifth album, Esto Es Brujeria, released in 2023.

Unlike his other band members, he was the only band member with no connections to other bands.

The longest active member of Brujeria, Juan contributed significantly to the band’s success, writing most of the songs’ lyrics.

However, Juan succumbed to a heart attack despite being rushed to the nearest hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia, and getting immediate medical efforts.

Meanwhile, the frontman’s family, bandmates, and friends are grieving his loss and wish to mourn it privately.
