Community Unites in Grief Over Tragic Demise of Olivia Finnemore and Her Family in Car Crash

Beloved financial executive Olivia Finnemore, her husband Gareth, and son Garth ultimately expire in a horrifying family car crash on August 31, 2024, leaving their youngest kid Harry fighting for survival and leaving the family in shock.

Olivia Finnemore was born in South Africa and attended school locally before pursuing a career in finance.

She was well-known for her morality, friendliness, and integrity as the Finance Executive at SA Canegrowers.

Tragically, Olivia, her husband Gareth, and their son Garth perished in a vehicle accident.

Heartbreaking Tragedy Strikes as Olivia Finnemore and her Family Lost Their Lives in a Car Crash

On August 31, 2024, Olivia Finnemore, her husband Gareth, and their son Garth were reportedly engaged in a horrific family car mishap.

Olivia Finnemore’s family was coming back after an exhibition rugby match in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

The incident occurred on the R622 between Greytown and Mooi River, where two automobiles collided.

The family was traveling in their Toyota Fortuner when it collided with a bakkie (pickup truck).

In addition, there were multiple passengers in the bakkie. Olivia, Gareth, and Garth Finnemore were among the 11 people who perished in the misfortune.

Moreover, eight people were annihilated in the second vehicle, and two more were critically harmed. They were transported to Greytown Hospital and one to Midlands Hospital.

Consequently, Harry, a Grade 6 student at DPHS in Durban, was the only Finnemore to survive. Despite suffering severe injuries, his health is now stable at the hospital.

The crash happened on a road with potholes, stray animals, trim pieces, and drivers who routinely cross solid barrier lines.

Furthermore, police accident reconstruction experts are looking into what caused the collision.

The South African Sugar Association mourned the tragic loss of the Finnemore family. Olivia was a finance executive at that organization.

As mentioned in SABC NEWS, Provincial Transport MEC Siboniso Duma has sent his condolences to the bereaved families, stating:

“It’s been a terrible accident weekend in the province of KwaZulu-Natal where we lost lives in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, which is amongst the provinces that we want always to avoid these processes. We always talk to our drivers that they must always be cautious, they must always be mindful of the situation in the province because this affects the economy, this also affects the outlook of the tourism in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. Working closer with SAPS, working closer as a department of transport we will be visiting certain families so that we could assist.”
