The 14-year-old Colt Gray, who was allegedly involved in the recent firearm incident at Apalachee High School, was raised in a troubled household amidst his parent’s issues.
The suspect opened fire at the school, taking the lives of two teachers and two students while injuring nine others.
Colt denied the allegations of his involvement in the incident, but authorities continue to investigate the case.
Moreover, the young boy has been receiving online threats, and the incident has sparked a massive reaction across the internet.
However, neither of Gray’s parents has made any public statement or comment regarding their son’s current situation.
Colt Grew Up Without Proper Guidance or a Stable Family Environment
Colt Gray was born to his mother, Marcee Polhamus Gray, and father, Colin Gray, who have been separated, according to Marcee’s relationship status on her Facebook profile.
The boy had a difficult upbringing as both of his parents were in a challenging mental state.
Colt’s mother, Marcee, struggled with addiction and was even apprehended once for substance misuse.
In November 2023, Colt’s aunt, Annie Polhamus, confessed that her sister physically mistreated their mother.
Looks like Colt Gray's OWN MOTHER threatened to kill HIM in 2023 while on a meth binge. According to a November 2023 Facebook post by his aunt, Colt's mother tied her own mom to a chair, made that threat as some sort of payback, and then left her there for 24 hours. Additionally, Colt’s father, Colin, suffered from domestic physical mistreatment, as Marcee mentioned in a Facebook post.
As a result, Colt had a rough childhood, growing up with his parents, who faced significant personal struggles in an unstable household.
However, the couple separated, and after their split, their son stayed with his dad until the incident.
Given the suspicions against him, it’s hard to believe that a 14-year-old could be involved. He might not have ended up in this situation with even a touch of good guidance from his parents.
Apparently Colt Gray was staying with his dad because his mom, Marcee Gray was a "mess"

Any child so young needs guidance and proper support from their parents. In Colt’s case, the lack of such support may have contributed to his troubled path.
People have even debated whether the parents should be held responsible, considering the complexity of their misguided influence.
